The Chisti and Hasan Foundation was founded by Mobina, Ehsan, and their daughters, Zamara and Zaneera, and shaped by their family's experiences as immigrants building a life in Canada.
While raising a young family, they experienced challenges related to mental health, housing, education, employment, financial stability, and family well-being. At one point, they became mortgage poor and had to sell their first home in Canada. Over time, they rebuilt their stability and later began investing in real estate, deepening their understanding of how closely housing, finances, mental health, and family well-being are connected.
Their experiences also shaped their professional paths. Mobina's healing journey led her to become a social worker and trauma therapist. Zaneera pursued agriculture and food systems, Zamara pursued public health, and Ehsan continued in business.
One of the family's most important lessons was the importance of community and belonging. While building careers, raising a family, and establishing themselves in a new country, Mobina and Ehsan did not always have the opportunity to create the strong community around them that they now recognize as essential to wellness.
They came to understand that people need more than services. They need connection, stability, supportive relationships, opportunities, and places where they feel they belong.
These experiences became the foundation for an organization focused on supporting the whole person, strengthening families, building community, and creating healthier conditions for generations to come.
